Legacy Magnet AcademyLegacy Magnet Academy is the new school in Tustin Legacy that opened in August of 2020. I had the honor of my logo being chosen from the principal of the school to be the official logo of the school. I even created business cards and a letterhead, and icons that go along with the schools phrase, "Catch the Wave of Innovation".
Median: Sketched in sketch book and recreated in Adobe Illustrator Size of Page Layout: 7x10 inches |
Vinyl CoverJunior year my class worked with vintage vinyl records and created a project that expressed the emotions that were being written about in the artists songs. Marie's songs were generally about love and heartbreak which is represented through the heart, which is being dethatched from the rest of the piece. The repetition of the curves demonstrates not only the flow of music, but continues the script of her name.
Median: Vinyl and cardstock laser cut with a laser cutter Size: 15x16 inches |
SpaceThe piece, "Space" is one of my most recent pieces in my AP Portfolio Sustained Investigation. I wanted to focus on positive and negative space and take smaller pieces out of a shape, rather than the other way around. The colors change suddenly in the back from a bright red to a dark brown to represent change, for the theme of my sustained investigation focuses on how the flow of life has been interrupted so easily, yet life still continues on. I wanted to represent how life is still going to press on and how important it is to stay motivated.
Median: Sketched in a sketchbook, recreated in Adobe Illustrator, then cut with a laser cutter into cardstock paper Size: 6x6 inches |
Heaves of LeavesMy piece titled "Heaves of Leaves" was created during my sophomore year when the class was learning the different principals of design. I researched different types of leaves and simplified them into simple shapes. I especially like the box titled "Lack of Harmony" and "Negative Space" for I have started to incorporate those elements into my most recent projects. This project was one that made me love simplifying objects and giving them meaning.
Median: Each composition was sketched in a sketchbook then recreated in Adobe Illustrator and was organized in InDesign Size: 6x11 inches |
Bustling"Bustling" is a piece that I worked with the elements of art and principals of design focusing in on space, shape and repetition. I was inspired by Piet Mondrian and the maps of Disneyland. I looked at how the roads diverged off of "Main Street" and replicated the same ideas. The black and white approach goes into play with the negative space and the idea that the black shapes represent movement. But at the same time the open white road represents the emptiness of locations, not only Disneyland, during the pandemic.
